1939 Gibson L4-C This is a circa 1939 to 41 Gibson L4-C.The guitar has had a rather unorthodox repair but is
still in excellent playing condition and can be used as is but the guitar is probably better suited as an excellent candidate for a new top and / or restoration. most of the original top was somehow broken or
removed, leaving appox. 1 inch of a rim of the original top left around the entire top of the guitar, a new top was expertly matched in. The pickup is a very nice sounding custom made pickup made to resemble a
vintage Charlie Christian pickup with the volume and tone installed on the rim of the upper bout near the neck. Most of the original white label is still intact so the model number can be read but not the serial
number, I can’t seem to find a FON number anywhere stamped in the body. It would be a great guitar to install a new top on as all the original kerfing and binding are untouched so the replacement top could easily be
cut out and the original binding carefully removed and reused. I have considered adding a dark tobacco burst to hide the seam but I’m more realisticly considering installing a new top, just thought I would
offer it up here until I can get to the job. The guitar plays perfectly as is and has great tone, here’s your chance to get a great player that can also be easily restored when of if you choose.
The sale price as the guitar sits is a steal at $1500.00 and includes a rather beat up early sixties Gibson
yellow lined ES-175 case, the case is rough on the outside and could use a new handle but is still structurally strong and will more than adequately protect the guitar.
