1983 Mahogany Moderne. We obtained this guitar from an ex Gibson employee. He had a supply of parts and hardware he obtained when Gibson moved out of Kalamazoo in early 1984. This guitar was in an un-finished state with no hardware. It may have been either a prototype, a second or simply unfinished stock. It has been properly assembled and given a true nitrocellouse finish. All hardware, including the pickups, is 100% as Gibson would have assembled the guitar.
Before anyone contacts us stating Modernes are not Mahogany, please check your sources, it is well known, many of the Modernes produced from 1981 to 1983 are made of Mahogany. Most of the ones that were painted solid colors are those models made of Mahogany.
This model has the rare, Futura head stock. While Gibson has prodeuced a very limited amount of guitars with the Futura headstock, this may be the ONLY Moderne with that head stock.
