This is a hand built 1983-4 Gibson Les Paul Standard pre-historic re-issue made in Kalamazoo. The guitar was taken out of the original Gibson factory in late 83 or early 1984 by a Gibson employee. It was left at a friend's house and remained in the closet for 23 years with no finish, (it did have the factory sealer coats) nor hardware / parts ever mounted (I do have pictures that show the guitar with no finish and no parts and more importantly, there were no screw holes to show the guitar never had parts mounted). The guitar is now loaded with vintage 60’s patent sticker pickups, a 1968 old stock aluminum tailpiece, new abr -1 bridge, new correct Kluson single line / single ring tuners (correct for a 1958 anyway), new CTS pots with vintage bumble bee tone caps. All the routings and details on this guitar are as close to a vintage 1958 Standard as mere mortals can be expected to create! The neck is a chunky 58 C profile, fretboard appears to be real Brazilian rosewood. This guitar was more than likely meant as one of the Leo’s Music or Strings and Things’ custom orders from the early eighties. The only reason either one of those dealers would have refused this one is because of the lack of flame (there is a slight amount of flame but not enough to claim this as a flame top). The guitar even has a brand new Lifton re-issue California Girl case. I do have proof of where the guitar came from, THIS IS NOT ONE OF OUR CUSTOM MADE REPRODUCTIONS, IT IS 100 PERCENT MADE IN KALAMAZOO!!!!!
